Where are you?
We’re a bike shop very near Kentish Town West station - and an easy walk (or cycle) from Tufnell Park, Kentish Town and Camden Town tube stations.
Do you sell bikes?
We’re a bike workshop - repairing bikes is our speciality. We sell parts and accessories in our shop, and the only complete bikes we sell are Frog Bikes for children. If you're older than 12, tell us what kind of thing you’re after while you’re in for a repair and we’re happy to point you in the direction of our favourite bike shops.
Do you service hub gears?
Yes! We don’t shy away from what some bike shops think of as complicated repairs. We service hub gears (including Sturmey Archer, Shimano Nexus, Alfine and Rohloff) - great for Dutch bikes or Bromptons.
Do you service Bromptons?
Yes - we are happy to service all models of Brompton.
Which parts do you stock?
We sell Kryptonite locks, Schwalbe tyres, saddles (including the full range of Brooks) and a whole host more. We also sell lights, racks, pedals, brake pads, bar tape and handlebar grips...and pretty much everything else you’d expect. If we don’t have something in stock, we can order it in for you.
How long will it take to service my bike?
If you think your bike needs a lot of work, it’s best to call in advance to book in a service in advance. Drop your bike off in the morning and we’ll have it back with you at the end of the day. Or if we think it’ll take longer and we need to keep it overnight, we’ll lend you a bike so that you’re not at the mercy of London transport!
We can often do smaller repairs on the spot. If you don’t want to wait while we do it, we’ll get you a coffee at The Fields Beneath coffee shop around the corner.
How much will my repair cost?
How long is a piece of string? We won’t do work on your bike that we think is unnecessary - so we’ll do a bicycle health check before we recommend a service.
Maybe you just need a quick tune up - or perhaps your bike needs a full service after a winter of hard riding. As a guide, our general service is £49 - or £79 with a clean and degrease too. That's the kind of service you might get once a year or so if you ride your bike daily. We’ll do a full clean and degrease of the frame, wheels and the drivetrain components. We also adjust the headset and remove, clean and grease the bottom bracket.
How do I know what you’re doing to my bike?
We’re happy to run through what we’re doing for your repair with you in detail - and explain any technical language.
If you’ve got time, you’re welcome to sit in on your service and watch us work. Andreas from London Cyclist did just that - you can read his post to see what goes into one of our services.
