Kentish Town bike shop

Lunar Cycles Kentish Town Store Front

Lunar Cycles began its life as a shop which specialised in salvaging old bikes and giving them a new lease of life. We continue to do that to this day. However, more recently we’ve increased our focus for our Kentish Town based bike shop in custom build bikes.

This is where we have a one on one consultation (posh way of saying sit down and have a cup of tea) with the cyclist to discover exactly what it is they want from their bike. Some people want to minimise the amount of maintenance they do so a bike with puncture proof tyres, hub gears and disk brakes is ideal. Others are looking to maximise the performance of their bike so they can take part in competitive road races. Many are also looking for a bike that can show off its classic style.

A bike shop with a difference..

When we are not busy building bikes that we’ve dreamed up with customers, we are busy providing bike repairs for London cyclists. We have a couple of key differences from other London bike shops that we think makes us a great choice to customers. One of the differences is that we won’t shy away from “more complicated” repairs to disk brakes and in particular to┬áhub gears (Including Sturmey Archer, Shimano Nexus, Alfine, Rohloff). We’ve often found other shops lack the expertise to service this equipment.

Also, we are always keen to help our customers learn more about maintaining their bikes themselves. Thanks to our open style workshop it’s easy for the customer to watch as we repair their bike. This is really good for if someone would like to try the bike repair themselves in future.

When it’s a really big job and we need to keep the bike in the workshop overnight we offer a courtesy bike that customers can use. This is great for when someone wants to stay on the move and avoid having to use London’s public transport.

These are just a few of the little things we think make us different to other bike shops and we believe our customers really appreciate.

Refitted and open for business..

We recently had a big upgrade to our shop where we brightened things up and added a few things that we are really excited about. One of those things is our new eco-friendly bike wash which means we can quickly and easily give our customers bike chains a thorough clean. We know that’s one of those tasks that is a bit of a pain to perform at home.

If you find yourself near Kentish Town or Chalk Farm..

We are always keen to welcome new customers to Lunar Cycles so if you find yourself near Kentish Town or Chalk farm then do swing by to say hello. Do note that our post code puts is in completely the wrong place on Google Maps so make sure you check our correct location on the contact page.

Getting a flat tyre right in the middle of a busy week felt like the last straw. But when I limped my bike into Lunar Cycles they couldn’t have been more helpful. Most fantastic for me was the use of a good, fast courtesy bike, so I could carry on my life without disruption. Their prices are very reasonable, they communicate clearly & my bike is back as good as new. Highly recommended. (And a very cute shop under the railway arches in old Kentish Town)

Just phoned these guys for some advice as am looking to get back on a bike regularly after too long off one. Courteous old fashioned assistance generously provided even though they weren’t able to offer me what I was looking for, but with an attitude like theirs they will be my first stop when I need some help that is within their domain.
    Cheers guys
